The Scoil Muire agus Padraig debate club is a great way to improve students’ public speaking, confidence and more. The club is held once a week and run by Ms. Leah Duffy. It is open to students throughout all the year groups (1st-6th). Many of our members have competed in multiple competitions such as – the Junior Mace Debate Competition, the Soroptimist Speaking Competition, the Legal Debating Secondary School Competition and many more. The debate club opens great opportunities for members such as debate workshops in other schools and improvement of vital skills for the future.
The debate club is a place to improve self confidence as well as having fun. Debate club handles serious debating and speech topics as well as some lighthearted ones, which helps members develop their own personal debating style. The debate club is a wonderful place to take your mind off things while at the same time being so beneficial to you.
