GAA

Gaelic games hold a proud and central place in school life at Scoil Muire agus Pádraig, with boys’ GAA teams enjoying great success over the years. Participation is high across all age groups—1st Year, Juvenile, Junior, and Senior—offering students the chance to develop their skills, represent the school with pride, and create lifelong memories.

One of the standout moments of this school year came in February, when our Senior E team claimed a fantastic victory in the Connacht Colleges Final. In a hard-fought contest, Scoil Muire agus Pádraig overcame Davitt College, Castlebar with a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-7. The win was a testament to the players’ determination, teamwork, and the tireless efforts of their coaches.

The boys’ GAA teams are guided by a dedicated group of teachers: Mr. Vincent Armstrong, Mr. Tomás Morley, Mr. Garry Carey, Mr. Tomás Mc Gettrick, Mr. Richard Bourke, and Mr. Jack Gibbons. Their commitment, mentorship, and fostering a love for the sport has helped build a strong tradition of football in the school.

Whether competing at provincial level or simply enjoying training with friends, GAA continues to be an enriching and enjoyable part of student life at Scoil Muire agus Pádraig. We look forward to building on this success in the seasons ahead.
