Ms Fania Ellison from Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) is the co-ordinator of this programme for our school and has worked with our teachers Ms Edel Casserly, Ms Clare Morrin and Mr. Vincent Armstrong over the past number of years. Our school has partnered with Genfitt in Kiltimagh for the past three years.
The particular programme is called the World of Work programme. The purpose of the programme is to develop mutually beneficial partnerships between DEIS schools such as Scoil Muire agus Pádraig and businesses in Ireland which support the Government’s overall strategy on educational inclusion.
Our students have gained an enormous amount of skills from the partnership with Genfitt over the past number of years. The have developed their literacy and numeracy skills, enhanced their soft skills such as self confidence and they have been exposed to different careers opportunities within the company which has broadened our students views on future career opportunities.
